Chrome corundum is an α-Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution formed by melting industrial alumina powder, chromium oxide powder, and a small amount of spinel (or not) in an electric arc furnace at a high temperature of 2200 °C.
Chrome corundum is an α-Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution formed by melting industrial alumina powder, chromium oxide powder, and a small amount of spinel (or not) in an electric arc furnace at a high temperature of 2200 °C. Chrome corundum is also called artificial red corundum (ruby) because of its purple or pink appearance. Chrome corundum has physical properties similar to white corundum, and the addition of chromium oxide improves the toughness of the crystal, and has a better finish when used for sandblasting and polishing.

Application
Abrasive: Chrome corundum abrasive is one of the best quality abrasives, suitable for polishing some cemented carbide, metal and non-metallic materials, with the advantages of less impurities, no staining and high finish. Chromium corundum is also used to make some abrasive products, such as chrome corundum grinding wheel, chrome corundum grinding head, used for polishing and grinding some alloy steel, carbon steel, high-speed steel and other high-strength materials, and the grinding efficiency and finish are better than white corundum .
Chromium corundum brick: Due to the high viscosity and good permeability of the chromium oxide-containing glass phase, chromium corundum can prevent the erosion and penetration of the molten slag to a great extent. Chrome corundum bricks are also widely used in glass kiln lining plates, glass kiln cover plates, waste incinerator backing, refractory castables and other high temperature resistance and anti-corrosion protection.
Chromium corundum castable: After adding spinel, the apparent porosity of the chromium corundum castable increases, the mechanical strength at room temperature is slightly reduced, and the thermal shock resistance is significantly improved, but at the same time, the slag corrosion resistance of the chromium corundum castable is reduced. .
Product advantages
①Chrome corundum has the characteristics of high hardness, good wear resistance and good self-sharpening;
②Chrome corundum has good thermal stability, good thermal conductivity and low calorific value;
③The toughness is better than that of white corundum, the hardness is equivalent, and the impurity content is low;
④Good thermal shock resistance, low linear expansion rate, good thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, high strength under high temperature conditions;
⑤ Good slag corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance to chemical corrosion;
